Job Title: Community Relations Coordinator 
Organization: Knox County Chamber of Commerce 
Location: Vincennes, IN 
 
Job Summary
The Community Relations Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting the activities and initiatives of the Downtown Vincennes Association and the Knox County Chamber of Commerce. The primary purpose of this position is to assist in coordinating project activities throughout downtown Vincennes while also supporting Chamber membership, events, and other key initiatives.
 
Reports to: This position reports to the Knox County Chamber of Commerce President.
 
Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in coordinating the activities, special events, and committee meetings of the Downtown Vincennes Association and the Knox County Chamber of Commerce. 
  • Oversee the administrative aspects of projects, including developing and maintaining data systems for record-keeping, preparing reports, and documenting all physical changes in downtown Vincennes. Track and retain information on job creation, business retention, and other activities as they arise.
  • Seek and secure funding opportunities, including grants and sponsorships, to support Downtown Vincennes Association projects.
  • Assist in recruiting and organizing volunteers to support committees and implement events.
  • Support recruiting new members for the Knox County Chamber of Commerce.
  • Attend training sessions and conferences as required by the Indiana Main Street program and the Knox County Chamber of Commerce.
  • Collaborate with the President and Marketing Manager to create, promote, and publicize events through websites, social media, and traditional media channels.
  • Perform other duties as required.
  • Strong ability to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with diverse stakeholders, including staff, management, agencies, and the public.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication abilities.
  • Demonstrated positive interpersonal and conflict management skills.
  • A dynamic, self-starting attitude with a proactive approach to work.
  • Experience in fundraising and grant writing is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and social media platforms.
  • Flexibility in managing various job responsibilities.
 Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required; a bachelor’s degree or equivalent is preferred.
  • Relevant work experience in community development, small business development, public relations, promotions, special events, or volunteer/nonprofit administration is desired.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
 Working Conditions / Physical Requirements
  • Primarily office-based with prolonged periods of sitting.
  • During event coordination, the role may require prolonged standing and walking, overhead reaching, climbing, and occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds.
 Work Hours:
  • Regular office hours as set by the Knox County Chamber of Commerce.
  • Occasional evening or weekend hours are required for event coordination.
